This is a blog I have to make for my grade 11 English class. I have to create 10 blog entries on the story Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King. Once this is done I have to watch the movie and write a review on it. Finally after watching the movie and reading the book I have to write a 5 page essay on one of the key statements of the book.

Pages 25-35 Response
In pages 25-35 of Shawshank Redemption we learn many different things. First of all the pages start off with us learning about Andy Dufresne the inmate who is currently serving a life sentence for allegedly murdering his wife and her lover. In these ten pages we learn about how Andy is looked down upon by the other inmates and looked at as a snob because of his calm and collective manner. This perception of Andy we will learn will soon start to change. The beginning of this changed perception starts off when Andy approaches Red in the yard one afternoon offering to pay him if he will smuggle him in a rock hammer. Red agrees and within a week Red has his hammer. None of the other inmates think anything of it until the brutal beating of Bogs Diamond leader of the "sisters"(a group of inmates that gang raped new, and vulnerable inmates). The brutal beating of Bogs Diamond starts out with the "sisters" gang raping Andy Dufresne numerous times until he finally snapped and told them that he would bite their penises off if they tried to perform oral sex on him ever again. After this incident there was no more gang raping of Andy and the "sisters" kept to themselves. All of this changed when "sisters" leader Bogs Diamond was found brutally beaten in his cell. A lot of inmates after that blamed Andy Dufresne for the attack because after all he had a rock hammer, and he had threatened Bogs Diamond once before. Also after this attack most of the inmates wondered if there was a more sinister side to the calm and collected Andy Dufresne's personality. I think that in the next ten pages more information will be provided on the aftermath of Bogs Diamond's brutal attack and whether or not the attack has had any affect on Andy Dufresne.
