This is a blog I have to make for my grade 11 English class. I have to create 10 blog entries on the story Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King. Once this is done I have to watch the movie and write a review on it. Finally after watching the movie and reading the book I have to write a 5 page essay on one of the key statements of the book.

Pages 15-25 Response
In the first ten pages of Shawshank Redemption we learn a lot of different things. The first thing we learn is that the story is written in first person narrative. We can tell this because the story is being told by one of the inmates. In the first ten pages we meet two key characters. The key characters that we meet in the first ten pages are Red and Andy Dufresne. Red is a convicted murder serving three life sentences, and he is also the narrator of the story. Red is also the mastermind behind smuggling pretty much anything into the jail. Andy Dufresne is also a convicted murder who befriends Red while the two are living on the same cell block. Andy Dufresne is in jail because he was convicted of murdering his wife Linda and her lover Glenn Quentin. Other than these characters and facts about them we know very little at this point about any other aspect in the story. I think that in future chapters something major will happen like either Red and/or Andy will be released, caught for smuggling, run away or even die.
